How to pack fragile items
Plates, wine glasses, crystal — Eli's technique.
Glassware, plates and crystal are the nightmare of every move. Here's how to pack them right.
Essential packing materials
- Plain (non-colored) newsprint or white packing paper
- Bubble wrap — for especially valuable items
- Small boxes — fragiles always go in small boxes
- Wide tape
The technique
Plates: wrap each one separately, stand them vertically (like books on a shelf), not flat.
Wine glasses: fill the inside with paper too, then wrap the outside.
Crystal: bubble wrap + paper + a divider inside the box.
Label correctly
- "FRAGILE" large on all four sides
- Arrow pointing up
- Destination room
